The Augusta Board of Zoning Appeals is scheduled to hear petitions from three businesses in its meeting on Monday afternoon.

David Avery of Auben Realty is requesting a variance at 2110 Faircrest Ave. The five acre commercial tract off Peach Orchard Road is currently the location of 4,800-square feet of warehouse space.

The request calls for a variance from two sections (particularly Section 13-5, which says “ of the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance to increase permitted building height from two and a half stories to three stories. The parcel is zoned General Business, in which buildings over two and a half stories are restricted in the Zoning Ordinance to the regulations of R-1E One-family residential zoning.

Stephanie Clark, on behalf of Augusta home builders Capital Rise, is petitioning for a variance at 644 Crawford Ave. A 6,800-square foot rooming house, over a century old, sits at the parcel now. Capital Rise acquired the property from Mercy Ministries last year.

This request seeks a variance from an ordinance for R-3C Multiple-family zoning that limits the lot area to a minimum of 1,500 square feet per dwelling unit, in order to allow a density of up to eight units.
