First announced in June, Laziza Street Eats is a new mobile version of the restaurant, launched by local entrepreneur Eli Andraws, who opened the area’s first Kono Pizza truck in 2022. Savannah River Brewery hosted an event welcoming the new kitchen over the weekend.

Andraws is licensing the brand and menu from his former employer, since selling the Kono Pizza business last year. The truck now expands the eatery’s distinct Greek and Lebanese cuisine selections, such as veggie-dense bowls of chicken shawarma with rice, lamb gyros and kebab.

“He owns the business 100%,” said Laziza owner Nader Khatib, who offered Andraws use of the logo and recipes to Andraws after the latter expressed an interest in kickstarting a new business. “It’s kind of like a franchise.”

Khatib opened the first Laziza location in Evans in 2011, and the second downtown, on Broad Street, in 2020.
