I find a lot of my clients like to add some Asian elements into their design. Whether it is in textiles, furniture or decor, these Asian designs can be a great addition into contemporary or traditional design. I have found they are complimentary to almost any home.
Let’s begin with furniture.
A sideboard can fit almost any room. It works great in a Dining Room as a decorative piece with lamps and decor or it can work functionally, holding food for a buffet. They work well under a TV in a Living Room or a Bedroom.
Not only are Asian cabinets built in a traditional way, the variety of colors and finishes, be it lacquered or distressed, they can really push these pieces into Asian influence. Let the color be the blending factor and let the style be the contrast to your current decor.

Maybe you don’t need storage and maybe a piece that isn’t so heavy. Maybe for a foyer?

Maybe you need a large, heavy piece to make a BIG statement.

Seating can also have an Asian influence.

What about fabrics for pillows?

Just last week I installed these great drapery panels. I love to travel to China, Japan and Thailand. I have collected many trinkets. I like displaying them on an Asian inspired bookcase.

Decorative accessories can add a lot of flavor to your home, too!

Some of these items look like antiques. And sometimes they are. Or maybe the doors or parts of the piece are vintage. But that is what it is all about…creating a story….some history to your decor. It provokes conversation and that is what is great in design. It peaks interest!
