Dear Editor,
As an elected commissioner from District 7 four times, I do not normally endorse a candidate in the District 7 commission race. This time I feel the need to make my endorsement known. After meeting both candidates for the seat, I am endorsing Tina Slendak. She is a retiring office manager who has spent her career dealing with architects and engineers. She has served as an administrator of the Augusta Political Watch Facebook Group which gives her an understanding of the issues that faces Augusta today. I would rather have a commissioner that can represent the constituents at all meetings. Commission meetings are not always scheduled well in advance, but sometimes they are scheduled for 24 hours later or other inconvenient times. Commissioners need to be present at all meetings. I also trust Tina as someone who has dealt with architects and engineers to make zoning decisions that affect our neighborhoods in our county future development. She has the experience to deal with Engineering Services and Utilities. So, in my opinion, you should join me in voting for Tina Slendak to be our commissioner from District 7.
