The Church is Waking up
Let’s hope and pray that Christians wake up. For example, on Oct. 22 at a Harris rally in Wisconsin, two college students shouted “Jesus is Lord” when she was being cheered for saying a woman’s right to abortion must not be hampered—at any stage of development. She scoffed at the young men and told them they were at the wrong rally. Greg Kelly and others reported it (https://www.newsmaxtv.com/Shows/Greg-Kelly-Reports/vid/71b5fcc0-90e8-11ef-8e20-d5647daf70ee (scroll to minute 37:52). She sees nothing wrong with abortion up until the time of birth, whereas Trump believes it is up to states to decide, such as abortion for medical reasons and incest or rape. She and her party have sent out millions of flyers to Georgians proclaiming that Trump wants complete control of your body!
The sanctity of life shined brighter to me after Helene missed our bed. Thousands in the swath saw the effects all around their home and some left rooms or grabbed their child just before a tree fell onto a bed. When sturdy hardwoods toppled onto yards, fences, sheds, boats, and RV’s but few people died, we concluded that God’s hand was merciful. Economically, we will be hurting for decades or forever. I was glad I had just read Job. God allows the rain to fall on the just and the unjust, and of course we saw that. However, I think he wants to wake us all up—to eagerly read our Bibles and apply them, and to consider how important politics and civic engagement is in supporting the values that our founders fought for. The preacher at Overcomers Outreach covered the platforms of the parties in his sermons, and other preachers like ours covered the many biblical truths that support this year’s Republican party, teaching truth to helpopen the eyes of voters.

Editor’s Note: Fact checking shows that this letter tells only part of the story regarding Kamala Harris’ response to the hecklers at her rally last week. In addition to proclaiming “Jesus is Lord,” the young men were also saying “abortion is a sacrament of Satan.” Further, Harris’ response regarding the second rally was to tell the young men they were at the wrong rally and that “I think you want the smaller one down the street,” an apparent reference to a rally for Donald Trump planned for the next day. Further, as far as we have been able to determine, Harris has never said she supports late-term abortion. She has said she would like to see the holdings of Roe v. Wade codified.
