Today there is less pride in PRIDE and companies are acting accordingly, so it is disheartening to see so few people attend the library meetings on the side of right. At these meetings one can show appreciation to the Library Board and librarians, who are working to reduce exposure of children and teens to pornographic material. As the woke ship goes down or at least is shaken, there is more wailing and gnashing of teeth.
The two sides share common feelings. Each side has a passion for its cause. We share a compassion for the marginalized souls suffering from early sexualization and/or trans lifestyles. One side believes many teens are trapped in those lifestyles with literature at their fingertips that encourages those feelings. The other side has compassion on these young people because they must find out what gender they are and then might not be accepted. Both sides share a love for what we believe the Constitution says about free speech. However, one side believes it protects children from obscenity and that the Constitution was written for adults. Whereas one side believes the Constitution was written for all ages (it wasn’t). Both sides encourage children to read and believe that reading influences culture.
However, the two sides have one major difference. One side does not think it is normal to sexualize children, or to teach toddlers and preschoolers to decide for themselves what gender they are.
Freedom is not free. Often the national news and social platforms hog our time. Gratitude for our freedoms is shown by our love in action. Attending one or two meetings is a good start.
In The Augusta Press, you can look for Board of Education and Library Board meetings. These boards are dealing with this issue at many of their meetings. The Board of Commissioners has final oversight of the libraries.
