Dear Editor,

I am concerned that recent rezoning decisions in our county are drifting away from the Vision 2035 Plan — the roadmap our community created to guide growth responsibly.

Vision 2035 balances neighborhoods, schools, businesses, industrial areas, and open spaces. It’s more than a plan; it’s a blueprint for sustainable growth that protects quality of life while welcoming new opportunities.

Rezoning that ignores this framework creates uncertainty for residents, developers, and the community. Growth should align with the plan, considering traffic, school capacity, environmental impact, and neighborhood character.

I urge county commissioners to recommit to Vision 2035. Transparency, meaningful public engagement, and alignment with our long-term goals are essential. Following the plan isn’t a barrier to progress — it ensures that development strengthens our county, rather than undermines it.
