Letter to the editor: Gary Richardson is the right candidate

Letters to the editor
Date: February 09, 2024

Dear Editor,

With election season upon us, choosing the right person to represent District 125 in Atlanta is critical. The right person is the one who will serve the interests of the district, not someone looking for a title or accolades. Gary Richardson is the right person.

Gary Richardson has lived and worked in District 125 for over 20 years. He not only owns real personal property, but real business property in the district that employs people. He pays taxes here, he attends church here, he volunteers here, he has relationships here. His children and grandchildren have planted roots. The decisions made at the state level, affecting District 125, affect his daily life. That matters!

MORE: Column: Ready! Fire! Aim…

As the chairman of the commission, I had the opportunity to work closely with Gary Richardson for the past eight years. His achievements too many to list. Richardson’s primary focuses have been investing in law enforcement and reducing property taxes. His results speak for themselves. Of the 159 counties in the state of Georgia, Columbia County has the 3rd lowest crime rate. As Columbia County property values increased, Gary fought to lower the millage rate. He did so seven out of the last eight years!

As a state legislator, Gary Richardson is committed to eliminating the state income tax, fighting for tort reform to keep insurance premiums low and ensuring our elections are free from interference.

There is a lot at stake in this election. Election Day is next week! Gary Richardson is the onlycandidate with the maturity, experience and relationships needed to immediately, successfully serve the residents of District 125.

Please, vote for him early or next Tuesday, Feb. 13.

Doug Duncan

Chairman

Columbia County Commission
