Voting is a right, a responsibility and a privilege of every eligible voter. And yes, we have more opportunities to cast a ballot. Dec. 6, 2022 is the runoff between the two candidates for the Senate in Georgia. If you live in District 2 in Richmond County, you will also have a runoff for School Board. If you live in Georgia Legislative District 129, there is a Special Primary to replace the late Mr. Wayne Howard on December 20th. Voter registration deadline has passed.

Sound confusing? Yes, it is so you may need to take some notes. Make a plan. If you cannot remember your school board or legislative district numbers, check your voter registration at My Voter Page Georgia- www.mvp.sos.ga.gov.

If you want to vote absentee (by mail), you must request a ballot now. If you are elderly, disabled and requested “ALL” ballots, you do not have to reapply for the runoff.  Request forms are located on the Boards of Election website at www.augustaga.gov/vote or www.columbiacountyga.gov/county/voting.  You have until Nov. 28 for the School Board and Senate elections to make your request. You have until Dec. 9 to make a request for the Special Primary. With time being so short, you may want to consider downloading the form and taking it to the Board of Elections in your county.

The application form will specify what forms of identification are acceptable. Pay close attention to the instructions and follow them closely. Absentee ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Dec. 6. Plan accordingly.

For the Senate and School Board runoff in Richmond County, you can vote in person in advance (early voting)  Nov.r 28-Dec. 2 in the Municipal Building at 535 Telfair St., Henry Brigham Recreation Center, Robert Howard Community Center at Diamond Lakes and Warren Road Recreation Center from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.  Last advance voting day is Friday, December 2. The Sunday voting for the runoff is Nov. 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the same four locations.

For the Special Primary, advance voting runs Nov. 28 to Dec. 16. The only site will be the Municipal Building on Telfair, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be Saturday voting for this election on Dec. 3 and 10, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In Columbia County, advance voting for the senate runoff is Nov. 28-Dec. 2, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Building G3 and the former Euchee Creek Library.

Voting on Election Day for Dec. 6 and Dec. 20 will be in your assigned polling location from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Confirm your location at www.mvp.sos.ga.gov.

Are you Vote Ready? Every election is important. Let’s continue to show up and cast our ballot. Your vote is your voice.
