Response to Wallen’s Slur Called ‘Excessively Punitive’

Dear Editor,

The excessively punitive response to country singer Morgan Wallen’s racial slur illustrates how tyrannical history is repeating itself. What exists today is the same oppressive atmosphere that prompted 1946 German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemoller’s poem titled, “First They Came.”

Today, a variation of the poem would say, first they came for Trump supporters, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Trump supporter. Then they came for My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell’s Twitter account, and I did not speak out, because I was not a My Pillow customer. Then they came for all of Morgan Wallen’s music, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Morgan Wallen fan. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.

A tyrannical minority depends on a silent majority.

Conservatives Should Wield Their Economic Power

Conservatives Should Wield Their Economic Power

Dear Editor,

ENOUGH!

After 50 years as a reader of the Chronicle, I have canceled my subscription.

I’m a conservative and the Chronicle editorial page used to be a joy to read; now, three-fourths of that page is liberal thought (an oxymoron). The NEWS as presented by Associated Press is just more liberal opinion – unreadable. So, after eliminating the editorial page and AP articles, my reading was the local news and sports (pitiful though it is).

Thankfully, there are sources like the Wall Street Journal to satisfy my need for good editorials and national news that is unslanted; The Augusta Press for local news; Fox Sports for much better-quality sports coverage.

I’m very happy with the above substitutions and extremely happy to no longer be supporting the liberal press of Gannett (USA Today). Conservatives must begin using their economic power to fight back against liberalism. If 10,000 Chronicle subscribers canceled their subscriptions, you would see a change or they would fold. Join me?
