Columbia County will have to consider a liquor store proposed for a commercial planned unit development (PUD) along Appling Harlem Highway.
The Greenpoint retail PUD is currently under construction along what 710 Point Bluff Pkwy. — the private road right off Appling Harlem Road. The storefront building, whose tenants will include a Jersey Mike’s sandwich shop, is the subject of a revision request by Krupa Patel, who plans to open a liquor store in the third suite of the building.
The retail space would be the first phase of the commercial portion of the Greenpoint North development.
Columbia County’s ordinances require retail package dealers of beer, wine and spirits be no less than 1,000 feet from schools, churches, county parks, alcohol treatment facilities and other retail package dealers. An application for the proposed shop’s alcohol license accompanies the PUD revision request, and notes the nearest establishments: the closest school is Harlem Middle, which is more than 2,700 feet away from the site. Powell Baptist Church is more than 3,000 feet away, Gateway Park is seven miles away, while the nearest liquor store, Harlem Party Package, is a little over five miles away.
The Columbia County Planning Commission is scheduled to consider the PUD revision during its meeting on June 5.
