The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, however, no restaurants, pools or hotels received a failing score from inspections on Dec. 16-20.
Worst scores in this week’s health inspection
This week’s lowest health inspection score was a 73 earned by Quantum Restaurant’s Little Caesars, located at 1631 Gordon Highway, in Augusta.
The inspector noted seeing employees not washing their hands properly, which resulted in a nine point reduction.
“Observed employees coming on shift NOT washing hands after entering the kitchen or changing,” the report stated.
The inspector also noted observing an employee not properly bandaging a wound before handling cash, and missing sanitizer buckets.
“Observed employee with a facial sore messing with it and then handling customer cash without bandaging it or washing hands,” the report stated. “Observed no sanitizer buckets made up at time of inspection.”
Lastly, the inspector noted seeing food improperly stored, and the previous inspection score not being displayed.
“Observed boxes of food stored on floor of walk in cooler,” the report stated.
Following the Little Caesars’ inspection, the second lowest score of the week was an 83 given to a Captain D’s, located at 1645 Gordon Highway, in Augusta.
The inspector reported finding foods held at an improper storage temperature, which resulted in a nine point reduction.
“Observed chicken on hot line being hot held are 126 degrees F with no timers set,” the report stated.
The inspector also noted observing a chemical cleaning solution being stored on the same shelf as food items
“Observed Windex stored next to sugar on shelves in the front food service area,” the report stated.
The third lowest score of the week was a score of 86 given to Azteca Maya, located at 508 Oxbow Drive, in Grovetown.
From the inspection, the inspector docked four points for noticing items being improperly stored in a potentially hazardous manner.
“Observed several items in bottom half of cold holding unit holding raw meats up top left uncovered, potential contamination of food,” the report stated.
In addition, the inspector noted seeing an employee not changing gloves and bathroom doors not meeting health code standards.
“Observed employee not changing gloves when needed,” the report stated. “Observed all bathroom doors to not self-close.”
