A generation or two dropped the ball.
I am amazed at the election of Zohran Kwame Mamdani as mayor of New York City. He, more clearly than any other candidate in America, has espoused the Communist position and all of the tenants it proscribes. Declaring himself a Democrat Socialist in a field of left leaning Democrats, Mamdani was as far left as he could go. He is as far from the very values of the United States Constitution as one could be, AND HE WON!
I will waste no time spelling out the Communist position beyond stating that Socialism is simply a path to the ultimate end of Communism.
I will also not bore you with the knowledge of the inability of a Communist style government to sustain viability, with Vietnam currently in existence the longest at 79 years. I suggest each do his or her own research.
A study on any level of Communism’s limited success and historical collapse is enough to have steered anyone doing such research to have selected a different candidate to support. A better choice would be on the NY Giants to win the 2026 Supe rBowl.
The bigger question is the WHY! Or I would give you the HOW just as easily.
Lest I be ripped apart in the comments and field of public opinion, I must be very careful as I assign the blame or breakdown my opinion of the cause for this deviation from the longest lasting form of government since the beginning of the world, that being a constitutional federal republic.
One party loves to call it a democracy because it suits their purpose when the constitution and the republic get in the way. A true democracy would be when the majority of wolves decide to invite the minority sheep for dinner.
So what happened? How did we get here? They say a good lawyer never asks a question without knowing the answer.
America was formed on the concept of freedom and liberty. Coming from a monarchy with a hint of the caste system, opportunity to succeed, opportunity to give success your best shot, opportunity to try regardless of your skin color, social status, or religious beliefs was finally within the grasp of those who dared defect from Great Britain. And with God’s divine blessing, succeed America did. She rose to be a world power following a path drenched in the blood of patriots. With the unfettering of oppression came the flourishing of new ideas, new machinery, refinement of old methods which continued with the passing of each generation.
Then we reached a level of relative comfort from generation after generation’s hard work. But rather than recognize the value system that built America, parents desire turned to making the lives of our children easier. Making life where they wouldn’t have to struggle so, would be spared the toil by the sweat of their brow. We created a generation, if not two, of people who haven’t had to put forth effort requiring struggle to earn and provide.
I know I am throwing a large blanket on a large number of people and recognize there are exceptions but by and large people don’t struggle to succeed anymore. From student loans to EBT to SNAP benefits, government has stepped in to fill the gap between hardwork and success.
So, let that kid earn money. They will appreciate the labor exerted to buy something and take better care of it. Let that kid pay their tuition at a community college or technical school to learn a trade while providing them a roof over their head and a full belly. Ask to see their plan when they tell you a new venture they want to pursue.
As a country let’s re-introduce hard work with the ensuing success and payoff. It has only taken two generations for the concept to become foreign to us, surely two generations can get us back.
Nothing is free, Communism doesn’t work, and America is the greatest nation in the world.
