It’s been a good year so far for local filmmakers Karlton Clay and Cam Logan.
Clay, who has been developing web-based TV-like series for about 15 years now since his college days at Georgia State College and University, recently produced his 400th episode under his VPN banner and released his seventh feature film just this year.
“God opens the doors for our dreams to become reality, and all we have to do is have the faith to walk through those doors,” said Clay.

Some of his feature-length films have taken content from his web series and reworked them. “BrothAHood” and “SistAHood” fit that description, while others such as “Redemption for Easter” and “A Very Merry New Year,” which is scheduled to be out during the 2021 holiday season, are brand new projects. His films are available on streaming platforms such as Vudu, Tubi and Amazon.
He also released “Reindeer Games,” his first full-length film in December 2020.

Over the years, he’s won multiple awards for his video storytelling.
On May 26, he learned he would be receiving the Breakout Creator Award at the Capital City Web Awards, which will be held in July.
Clay said it’s an “honorary award for a creative who has done exemplary work in the indie/web series world.”
He got on the Capital City Awards’ radar after he won several awards at the 2019 Capital City Awards including best drama, best ensemble cast and best writing.
While Clay is a veteran, Cam Logan recently completed his first full-length movie is “Bryn Gets A Life.”

Logan had produced several short films prior to submitting “Bryn Gets A Life” to film festivals. So far, the film has been selected for two — Reedy Reels in Greenville, S.C. June 4-6 and the Northeast Mountain Festival, Dillard, Ga. in August, he said.
The film’s world premiere will be at 12:30 p.m. June 5 at the South Carolina Children’s Theatre. He’s hoping for an Augusta crowd in the audience.
“It is exciting,” he said. “I’m just glad that other people are enjoying the film and getting something out of it. It’s been a lot of work, but the fun part is sitting back and seeing how other people react. I especially can’t wait to see what the cast things of it. They haven’t seen it yet.”

Most of the films in the Reedy Reels are short features. Only two full-length films were selected for it, he said.
Hannah Lori, who plays the lead role of Bryn, has been nominated for a best actress award.

“Hannah Lori did an outstanding job as a first-time lead actor in a feature film. Not once did I doubt her ability to carry the film. I think she’s just getting started, and I can’t wait to see her career blossom as she moves past Bryn and into other opportunities,” he said.

Logan said he doesn’t have a date planned yet for an Augusta screening of “Bryn Gets A Life.” He’s still waiting to hear back from a few more film festivals.
