Date: September 27, 2021

Local lawyer George R. Hall, died during the Augusta Ironman 70.3 Sunday morning.

Hall was given assistance during the swimming leg of the triathlon from water rescue and was later transported to Augusta University Medical Center.

“George Hall was an exceptional lawyer respected by all members of his profession.  His death is a significant loss to our community.  In addition to his legal accomplishments, he led an exemplary life devoting himself to his faith, family and community,” said Neal Dickert a local lawyer who has worked with Hall.

Hall, graduated summa cum laude from Presbyterian College in 1983. He graduated from the University of South Carolina Law School in 1986.

“He was a great family man, smart lawyer, great trial lawyer, and dedicated to his family,” said Milton Martin, a lawyer who had worked with Hall.

According to his biography at the law firm’s website, he successfully tried more than 120 cases over his career. He has served as a mediator and arbitrator in more than 300.

Hall was a Paul C. Harris Fellow of Rotary International and had multiple awards including Best Lawyer’s 2021 legal malpractice law, personal injury law and professional malpractice law award winner.

“The untimely loss of our dear friend and law partner is heartbreaking. George was as fine a man as we have known. He was devoted to his wife Margaret and their two grown sons and was filled with joy on the arrival of his granddaughter earlier this year. He held many positions of leadership at Reid Presbyterian Church. In the law, George has been chairman of our Hull Barrett firm, the current chair of the State of Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, President of the Augusta Bar Association, and other leadership positions.  His loss will be hard on so many in so many ways. The only comfort we have is knowing that he was a child of our Lord and lives now with him in eternity.” David Hudson with Hull Barrett said.
