On Thursday afternoon, the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce, along with staff from Weir/Stewart, who oversaw the apartments’ branding, welcomed a host of visitors to the grand opening of the high-end residential block, complete with a tour of its four floors.

The complex, more than 135,000 square feet, boasts 11 floor plans with one- and two-bedroom and studio homes among its 136 units. A saltwater pool area with sundeck and an outdoor grill, a 24-hour fitness center with a personal training room, a dog park, and a rooftop Sky Lounge are some of its many amenities.

“Our first move-in was June 8,” said property manager Kameron Mason, also noting that some 20 units have already been leased, with the one-bedrooms currently drawing the most interest.

ATC broke ground on the residential community at the three-acre parcel on the corner of Twelfth and Greene streets—the former site of the Greyhound Bus depot—in February of 2022, with a projected opening date around September of last year, near when ATC would celebrate its 50th anniversary.

“It’s been quite a journey,” said ATC CEO Woody Belangia, who has said before that his visit to an Augusta Tomorrow meeting spurred the idea for developing a downtown mid-rise complex.

ATC acquired the tract from Mayo Place Properties in the summer of 2020, according to August property records. In January of 2021, the Augusta Commission approved ATC’s request to rezone most of the block from B-2 General Business to Planned Unit Development.

“Our goal was to create the nicest residential experience in Augusta,” Belangia said. “We’re very proud of it. It’s kind of a showpiece for us. It’s a great way to kind of put a capstone on our 50 years of history.”
