Columbia County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man following a Jan. 22 domestic dispute.

Brian Lanier, 49, had been ordered to stay away from property on Parham Road because of an earlier domestic incident there.

Lanier’s wife told officers that her husband started drinking heavily after he came to the home, and an argument ensued, according to the incident report.

In her statement, the woman said she asked her husband to stop following her and to leave to the premises. While trying to distance herself from him, Lanier became physical and shoved her down on the couch.

The woman fled the residence to a neighbor’s house where she called 911 for help.

Before deputies could arrive, however, Lanier exited the residence though a back door and left the scene.

The sheriff’s office report said Lanier was later located at 619 Davis Powell Road and taken into custody on charges of simple battery family violence.
