Man killed in early morning traffic accident

An Augusta man was killed Saturday morning after his vehicle struck a tree.

Jarrad Quarles, 31, of the 1200 block of Marks Church Road, was traveling west near the 2500 block of Central Avenue and left the roadway entering the center median and struck a tree, according to reports from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner Mark Bowen.

After he hit the tree, his vehicle caught fire. He was pronounced dead at 3:15 a.m.
