A man was arrested Thursday after barricading himself inside a residence and now faces multiple charges.
According to Richmond County Chief of Staff Lewis Blanchard, at 12:40 p.m. a road patrol deputy spotted Terrell Crawford, 26, who has active warrants, in the 1400 block of Hunter Street. After spotting the deputy, Crawford ran into the residence and barricaded himself inside, which he has done before during a previous incident.
The RCSO SWAT Team was called to the scene at 1:40 p.m. due to Crawford refusing to exit the residence. Blanchard said as a precaution, residents from nearby homes and the apartment complex were evacuated.

SWAT negotiators engaged with Crawford by using a vehicle loudspeaker system and following a brief negotiation, he peacefully surrendered.

Blanchard added that additional charges could be pending. Crawford will be taken to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
RCSO Sheriff Eugene Brantley thanked the deputy for his situational awareness and quick action. He also thanked the SWAT team for resolving the situation without any injuries.
“We are doing everything within our power to remove violent criminals from Augusta-Richmond County,” said Sheriff Brantley. “Our commitment to ensuring safety and peace of mind for every resident and visitor in our community is unwavering.”
