Richmond County authorities are looking a mechanic wanted for allegedly taking $2,300 from an Augusta man for a job he never completed.

Tommie Wade Dicks III, who is known to frequent the Aiken area, is wanted for theft by deception.

The victim says he had met the suspect because the man worked on cars. He hired the man to change the motor in his 2010 Dodge Challenger and sent him $2,300 to put in the motor. But Dicks never did the job.

Dicks then “stopped replying to his texts and answering his phone calls,” a sheriff’s report says.

Dicks is described as 5’6” tall and 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He could be driving a white flatbed pickup truck, the sheriff’s office said.
