Man wanted for murder after homeless man found dead behind Augusta Chevron

Jeffrey Eutsay

Date: October 07, 2025

A homeless man was found dead Tuesday afternoon behind a Chevron gas station on Laney Walker Boulevard, and authorities have now launched a murder investigation.

Deputies discovered the man’s body around 2:04 p.m. behind the Chevron at the corner of 15th Street and Laney Walker. Investigators have not yet released the victim’s name, but say he appeared to be unhoused.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has identified a suspect in the case: 43-year-old Jeffrey Taiwan Eutsay, who is also believed to be homeless. A murder warrant has been issued, and authorities are actively searching for him. Eutsay was released from prison three weeks ago after serving just six years on a 10-year sentence for stabbing another man at the Sprint Station on Dean’s Bridge Road.

Eutsay is described as a Black male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 195 pounds. Anyone who sees him or knows his whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately.

A witness captured this image of RCSO officers investigating the suspicious death at the Chevron gas station.

Because of the location’s proximity to Augusta University and Paine College, campus police were notified and responded to the scene. Augusta University Police are assisting in the investigation and provided helpful information to deputies.

Sheriff Gino Brantley emphasized the department’s commitment to serving all residents, including the unhoused. “Every life matters, and our commitment is to protect and serve every individual in Richmond County,” he said in a statement.

Anyone with tips can contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1020, message their social media pages, or submit information through their website.

This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as they become available.
