Richmond County authorities are looking for a homeless man for questioning in a brutal Halloween homicide at Elliott Park.

Alvarez Bernard Anderson, 43, is wanted for questioning in the beating death of 59-year-old Michael Whitfield, who had two candy bars stolen from him on the morning of Oct. 31.

Investigators have already charged 31-year-old DeMarcus Deion Thomas in the gruesome killing.

Demarcus Thomas

It’s unclear how Anderson could have played a role, but he is being sought by authorities and described as homeless. He is described as 5’7” tall and 165 pounds.

According to arrest warrants, Thomas is accused of repeatedly pounding on Whitfield with his fists and then stealing two candy bars from the dead man’s pockets.  He was charged Nov. 1 with murder.

The body of the homeless victim was found lying on the ground of the park, dead from blunt force trauma.

If anyone knows where Anderson is located, please call Investigator Ken Rogers or any on call Investigator with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1020 or 706-821-1075.
