Date: July 28, 2025

Richmond County authorities have issued arrest warrants for Quanterius Marquette Nelson, 37, in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a woman critically injured in late May.

The crash occurred on May 28 at the intersection of Wheeler Road and Frontage Road. Investigators say 27-year-old Morgan Gray was struck and seriously injured by a driver who fled the scene.

Local mother Morgan Gray, right, was hit while riding her motorcycle on Wheeler Road in May.

After a joint investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Traffic and Criminal Investigations divisions – including search warrants and the processing of key evidence – investigators obtained felony and traffic charges against Nelson. He surrendered to authorities on Saturday.

He was wanted on charges of serious injury by motor vehicle, felony leaving the scene of an accident, failure to yield while turning left, driving while license suspended, and no insurance.

In a statement, Sheriff Gino Brantley said the case has reached the point where investigators have probable cause to move forward with charges. He praised the work of the investigative team and emphasized their ongoing commitment to accountability and justice.

The Sheriff’s Office said its thoughts remain with Morgan Gray and her family as she continues to recover.
