An urgent care physician has been charged in connection with an October crash that killed a Grovetown motorcyclist.

Dr. Roger Dewey Brown Jr., 75, of Martinez, was charged Tuesday with homicide by vehicle and failure to yield while turning left. The Oct. 14 collision resulted in the death of 29-year-old Tyler Ray Dunham.

According to investigators, Dunham was riding a Yamaha motorcycle on Jimmie Dyess Parkway around 8 p.m. when he struck the right side of a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Dr. Brown. The crash occurred at the intersection with the I-20 eastbound on-ramp.

“The investigation revealed that at the time of the collision, Roger D. Brown failed to yield while turning left,” the report states.

Dunham was thrown from his motorcycle and died from his injuries. Dr. Brown and his passenger, 71-year-old Shirley Dorn Brown of Martinez, were transported to Doctors Hospital for treatment.

A report says Dr. Brown works as a medical doctor for Martinez Urgent Care on Bobby Jones Expressway. He resides in Martinez.

Dunham’s obituary described him as a smart, thoughtful young man known for his quick wit, big heart, and unwavering kindness. He was active in several local motorcycle and car clubs.
