Masters renter jailed for indecency on Bartram Trail Golf Club in Evans

Daniel Wangler, 50, of Illinois, was arrested for public indecency for allegedly peeing on the Bartram Trail Golf Clob's second hole.

Date: April 09, 2024

A drunk man renting an Evans home for Masters Week was jailed after neighbors recorded him urinating on a local golf course, authorities said.

Daniel William Wangler, 50, of Elm Hurst, Ill., was charged with public indecency and public drunkenness. He told authorities he was just peeing on a golf ball as a joke.

However, two Evans residents who live in Bartram Trail didn’t find it funny. They were eating dinner when they spotted the man on the golf course with his shorts around his ankles. The suspect was standing on the second hole green of the Bartram Trail Golf Course, according to a Columbia County sheriff’s report.

“He stood and urinated with his lower body and genitalia fully exposed facing towards their houses,” the report says. “The golf course is a public course that is surrounded by houses on all sides. They stated that ‘this went on for some time, and when the person was done he shook his ‘wiener,’ pulled up his shorts, and walked to the backyard of a home on Satolah Ridge.”

While the suspect was urinating on the golf course, another man from the same rental home was seen filming him with his phone and laughing. Authorities say the men were renting the house on Satolah Ridge for Masters Week.

Deputies went to the home where a group of men were sitting around drinking. They found Wangler in the kitchen, and he was shown a video of him urinating on the golf course.

“Daniel confirmed it was him and later said he was urinating on a golf ball as a joke,” the report says.

Wangler was then placed under arrest for indecent exposure and public drunkenness due to the strong order of alcohol coming from his breath. He was booked into the jail before being released on a $2,200 bond.
