A McDonald’s employee was fatally shot early Sunday at the restaurant on Peach Orchard Road in Augusta, authorities said.

Daquantavious “Quan” Proctor, 19, of Augusta, was found shot after deputies were called at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, and he was pronounced dead an hour later by the coroner’s office. Sheriff’s officials have released few details on the crime, including whether it happened inside or outside of the fast-food establishment.

On Sunday morning, authorities put out wanted posters, seeking to question 19-year-old Sameely Grant and identify an unknown male who was last seen in a gray unknown make and model SUV. A poster seems to show the male inside the fast-food place.

The sheriff’s office later announced that they had located the subjects, but no charges were announced. Grant has a record of arrests with the sheriff’s office in her young life, including shoplifting and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

“The investigation is ongoing,” sheriff’s Sgt. John Perry said by email. “No further information is available at this time.” (Story continues below.)

Proctor worked at the Peach Orchard Road restaurant where he was killed. A friend who saw him walking to work last Tuesday told him to “be safe.”

According to online posts, Proctor was the father of a young daughter and was expecting a second child.

“My baby is gone,” wrote Zakaria Plummer on Facebook. “My heart is gone, my mind is gone, somebody took my baby away from me. Our second child will never be able to meet (you). I’m supposed to be in bed with (you).”

Another person mentioned the victim’s connection to McDonald’s.

“McDonald’s will never be the same no more,” said Shandrica Pryor. “Lord please wrap your arms around his family because they need it.”

The victim’s body has been taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Augusta for autopsy, according to Coroner Mark Bowen.
