McNeal convicted in Corner Store killing

Date: February 01, 2025

A jury has found Frederick McNeal guilty of felony murder in the 2022 killing of Anthony Flowers at a convenience store.

On July 26, 2022, McNeal gunned down the 33-year-old Flowers at the Corner Store at the corner of Milledgeville and Wheeless roads after an argument over a cigarette lighter, District Attorney Jared Williams said in a statement.

McNeal claimed self-defense, “but the jury saw through his unjust lies and found McNeal guilty,” the statement said.

The conviction, by the DA’s Violent Crimes Unit, is a part of the office’s ongoing efforts to ensure that “senseless murders in our community are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” it said.

“Our community continues to speak out with its jury verdicts that the murders and violence must stop,” Williams said.
