Go behind the bylines to meet the members of “The Augusta Press” in a brand-new podcast.
Recorded in April, the first episode of the podcast showcases features editor, Charmain Zimmerman Brackett, who started her journalism career as a sports correspondent with “The Augusta Chronicle.”

As features editor, Brackett writes about the “quality of life” topics such as arts and entertainment, faith, food and health and wellness. She also likes to write personality profiles of area residents.
It highlights her 33 years writing with multiple publications over the years as well as her novels and children’s books, according to Jeremy Mace of Powerserve, who is interviewing members of the online newspaper. Also, the podcast delves into her education as well as her decision to become a journalist.
So far, five podcasts have been recorded. Other podcasts will feature Scott Hudson, who covers an array of topics including the unsolved murder series and Augusta government; Tyler Strong, who covers business and sports; and the paper’s regularly featured columnists.
Each podcast takes both a personal and professional look at the people who write the news.
Mace said he plans to have a full season with about 13 or 14 biweekly episodes.

Joe Edge, The Augusta Press publisher, said he hopes the podcast will draw the next generation to the digital news platform.
“Part of our mission is to engage a younger audience. Younger people tend to get their news online already, but many have a hard time discerning between actual news, opinion and fake news,” he said. “Launching the podcast is one of our first steps to creating news literacy for the general public.”
Each of the episodes are about 30 minutes and the first episode can be found at https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-augusta-press-podcast/id1571942945.
