The Columbia County Board of Commissioners is proposing a millage rate of 4.795 mills, which is a rollback from 4.8950 mills in 2023, according to the five-year history. Hearings will be held July 16 at 5:45 p.m., July 23 at 8:30 a.m. and Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium at the Evans Government Center complex.
Because the millage rates for Columbia County, Harlem and the Columbia County Board of Education are not rolling back all the way back to the full rollback rate or are keeping the millage rate the same, it must be advertised as a tax increase and three public hearings must be held, according to Georgia state law.
