The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, and while no businesses received a failing score from March 18-22, four businesses did get scores in the 80s.
The lowest score received in this week’s health inspection was an 81, which was received by Giuseppe’s, 3690 Wheeler Road, Augusta. Inspector’s comments included: “observed missing ceiling tile in the main kitchen and back room” and “observed employees not wearing hair restraints during active food prep.”
Other comments included: “observed an expired food manager certification,” “observed chicken/45F, sausage/43F, and cheese/44F cold held at temperatures above at 41F inside the coolers in the main kitchen,” “observed scoops improperly stored inside several containers of sugar,” “observed wet nesting of clean dishes,” and “observed buildup on several pieces of equipment.”

The next lowest score was an 86. It was received by Wingate/Darshan Properties LLC, 2564 Center West Parkway, Augusta. Inspector’s comments included: “Cold held TCS foods (milk) must be maintained at 41F and below, (thermostat adjusted, air circulation)” “Store cleansers such that cross contamination of food, utensils cannot occur, (sugar move from below CLR chemical, chemicals moved to proper storage)” and “post permit, CFSM certificate in public view, (posted in office).”
Dippin’ Dots, 3328 Washington Road, Augusta also received an 86. Inspector’s comments included: “observed no Servsafe certification posted. Repeat violation,” “observed handwashing sink not working and faucet broken,” and “observed juice with a date of 1/15/2024 and observed several cartons of candy that expired in 2023.”
The third lowest score was an 89 and was received by Super 8, 233 Reservation Way, Augusta. Inspector’s comments included: “need copy of gas inspections on dryer and water heaters and should be available for inspector upon request,” “ice buckets must be free from residents, must be smooth and cleanable, (room 128 soiled and room 205 soiled and had cigarette burns),” and “sink drains slow in rooms: 205, 303, 321. Mold at base of tub in 109, towel inside vanity in 220, and vanity peeling in 118.”
