More people qualify in Columbia County on Wednesday

Two more candidates filed Wednesday to run in the Columbia County elections in May. 

Rickey Merideth filed as a Republican to run for the Columbia County District 3 seat. He joins Michael Carraway, who filed earlier in the week. Trey Allen filed as a Republican for the Columbia County Board of Commissioners District 2 seat.

At the state level, two more names have joined the race for the State House District 131 seat. Republican Rob Clifton and Democrat Heather Rose White both filed on Wednesday. They join Republicans David Byrne, Paul Abbott and Russell Wilder, all who filed earlier in the week.

  • Cindy Mason (Rep., incumbent) for Clerk of Superior Court 
  • Terry Norma (Rep.) for coroner
  • Helen Bratton (Dem.) for coroner
  • Alice Padgett (Rep., incumbent) for probate judge
  • Jason Troiano (Rep., incumbent) for chief magistrate
  • Clay Whittle (Rep., incumbent) for sheriff
  • Wayne Bridges (Rep., incumbent) for tax commissioner
  • Phil Kent for Board of Education District 1
  • Lee Ann Meyer (incumbent) for Board of Education District 4
  • Katie Allen for Board of Education District 4
  • David Dekle for Board of Education chairperson
  • Rick Allen (Rep., incumbent) for U.S. Congressional District 12
  • Daniel Jackson (Dem.) for U.S. Congressional District 12
  • Max Burns (Rep., incumbent) for State Senate District 23
  • Lee Anderson (Rep.) for State Senate District 24
  • Hope Beard (Dem.) for House of Representatives District 123
  • Rob Leverett (Rep.) for House of Representatives District 123
  • Gary Richardson (Rep.) for House of Representatives District 125
  • C.J. Pearson (Rep.) for House of Representatives District 125
  • Mark Newton (Rep., incumbent) for House of Representatives. District 127
