Grab a group of friends, dress up like your favorite detective and solve a mystery.
That’s the premise behind CluedUpp, which offers an interactive mystery experience, coming to Augusta March 6.
“It’s unique,” said Nicole Read, a digital marketing executive with the gaming company located in the United Kingdom, via Zoom. “It’s all played virtually.”

The concept is similar to Pokemon Go, the GPS game craze that hit a few years ago. Download an app and as you walk the streets of downtown Augusta using the GPS on your phone, and you’ll find clues and encounter suspects along the way.
The starting location is the Augusta Common, but there’s not an official start time. Although there’s a chance people could run into other groups playing, it’s still a safe socially-distanced event. There’s no intentional contact with other people.
The current game has a theme of The Ripper. Three men have been murdered, and it’s up to your team of detectives to figure out who did it before he can strike again.
One ticket is good for a team of up to six people.
Not only will you solve a mystery and have fun with friends, said Read, but there are opportunities to win prizes such as fastest team, best fancy dress (detective inspired), best team picture, best team name, best young detective (for those under 16) and best K-9.

“Some teams go all out,” she said.
While the company is located in England, Read said support is offered for players during the event. There are Facebook live posts as well.
Clued Upp currently has two different storylines. One is the Ripper, and the other is Witchcraft and Wizardry. Other storylines are in the works, she said.
This isn’t the first time Clued Upp has been to Augusta. The last offering was the Witchcraft and Wizardry. Read said it was well-attended.
“If we’ve been somewhere and sold out, we come back,” she said.
To learn more about CluedUpp or to sign up your team, visit cluedupp.com. The game is played outside, but there are a limited number of spots available, she said. The cost is $52 per team.
