Murder suspect had been paroled in 2020

Keyon L. Smiley, 31, who was arrested Monday and charged with murder in connection with a weekend shooting, had previously pleaded guilty in Columbia County Superior Court to two counts of cruelty to children.

For those charges, Smiley was sentenced in July 2019 to four years in prison, followed by 11 years on probation. According to court records, he was paroled in November 2020.

Smiley is now being charged with murder in Richmond County in the shooting death of 21-year-old Logan Etterle that took place on the corner of 10th and Broad Street. Etterle was shot at least one time, according to an email from Richmond County Sheriff’s Sgt. Caleb Lee.

De’Andre Tandy

De’Andre Tandy, 26, was also arrested Tuesday with the help of the Savannah Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force in North Augusta.
