Mystery body found at Aiken solar site

Aiken County authorities are investigating after a body was found Thursday morning at a utility solar site off Edgefield Highway.

According to Coroner Darryl Ables, investigators responded shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday when the remains of a man were discovered in the 2000 block of Edgefield Highway. The victim was in an advanced stage of decomposition and could not be immediately identified.

Ables said the cause and manner of death will be determined after forensic anthropology testing is completed. The Coroner’s Office and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate.

Officials say more information will be released as it becomes available.
