A network outage continues to limit local government functions supported by the city of Augusta.

Public Information Officer Leadra Collins said in an email the city is “working diligently to investigate the source of this disruption and to restore full functionality as soon as possible.” She said the outage was “not caused by a cyber attack,” and that the city expected service to be restored Monday.

The extent of the outage is unclear, but certain offices were extremely limited. Richmond County Probate Court had a sign at the door stating technical issues prevented it from providing services to the public. The Richmond County Tax Commissioner’s online payments system was down, as was Augusta GIS.

The main phone number for Richmond County Board of Elections was down again Monday after service had been restored after last week’s outage. The office provided alternative numbers, (706) 821-2341, 2344, 2826, 1574 and 1575, to reach someone.

“Augusta departments are currently working to put processes in place to allow business to continue as much as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding and apologize for the inconvenience caused,” Collins said.

The Augusta Commission has a called meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday to discuss cyber security.
