7 Brew is steadily making a foothold in the CSRA, with plans for a coffee shop at the intersection of North Leg and Wrightsboro roads, just as one has been planned off Washington Road.
In early March the restaurant chain, based in Fayetteville, Ark., submitted plans to the Augusta Planning and Development for a location of one of its drive-thru cafes at 1501 North Leg Road.
The coffee shop locations are small, one-story kiosks that sell specialty smoothies and dessert drinks along with coffee. The stands, built off-site, are shipped by trailer to their destination, where a crane will drops it in place.
7 Brew has nearly 60 locations throughout the Southeast and Midwest, with the nearest in Augusta being two in the Greenville, S.C. area.
The first 7 Brew location to open in the area will be at 105 Charlestowne Way, along the Washington Road corridor. The company first submitted plans to develop there last summer, when the address was 3038 Washington Road. The franchise had the kiosk delivered in mid-February, and it is scheduled to open April 11.
“Augusta has a lot to offer from beautiful scenery to unique eats,” said Isaac Mincks, general manager for 7 Brew’s Augusta team. “It’s a growing area, and 7 Brew will be a great addition to keep this city fueled.”
Plans for a shop at 2915 Peach Orchard Road are also underway. 7 Brew had initially submitted for the south Augusta space last June for evaluation by the planning department, which it did not pass, then resubmitted last August before receiving conditional approval.
The North Leg kiosk is scheduled for delivery in by mid-May, said Mincks. The café franchise is currently working on securing even more locations in the area, including ones on Walton Way, Bobby Jones Expressway and even in Grovetown.
“7 Brew is all about giving back,” Mincks said. “And we hope we can make new friends with our customers that come through.”
The April 11th opening of the Charlestowne Way site will be followed by a grand opening event on April 22 called “Community Day.”
Mincks said the company is looking forward to planting roots in the area, citing an article in Southern Living magazine entitled “14 Reasons to Drive To, Not Through, Augusta, GA.”
“Hopefully the only place people drive through is 7 Brew!” said Mincks.
