Keith and Cassandra Parker, a husband and wife team, are joining the ranks of downtown entrepreneurs with The Ice Lounge soon to open up at 722 Broad St. near the Miller Theater

“It’ll be a cocktail bar, and we’ll be serving American, Southern cooking,” said Cassandra Parker. “We’ll be open from lunch until around midnight during the week and until one or two on the weekends.”

The tentative plan is for The Ice Lounge to have a grand opening June 4.

“We’ll have jazz night, karaoke night, small events like that,” she said.

Their proximity to the Miller Theater might manifest in a business partnership, as Cassandra Parker said she hopes to cater some events for the theater down the line.

Keith Parker has just a few more months in the military and then this family business will be the Parkers’ focus.

“The plan is to bring something to Augusta that we don’t really have,” Cassandra Parker said. “We’re on the bottom floor, and our goal is eventually to expand to the floor above, as well.”

In terms of what Augustans should be excited about, the plan is simple.

“Just get ready for the southern cooking,” Keith Parker said.
