Richmond County authorities say their investigation shows 55-year-old Sheri Methvin was the likely shooter who killed her sister and their step-father on Sunday before killing herself.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office has released the names of two of the three people found dead inside a Bennock Mill Road home Sunday in what investigators believe was a double homicide–suicide.

Coroner Mark Bowen said Monday that the deceased have been identified as Carmen Ray, 77, of Augusta, and Sheri Methvin, 55, of Augusta. A positive identification has not yet been made on the third individual, an adult female, but sheriff’s officials say she is believed to be Sandra Moulton, Sheri’s sister. Carmen was their stepfather.

Authorities say it appears Sheri Methvin was the shooter.

Bowen said his office responded to the 600 block of Bennock Mill Road on Sunday where three bodies were found inside the residence. Autopsies have been scheduled for all three individuals.

Sheriff’s Chief of Staff Lewis Blanchard said Sunday that there is no danger to the public. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Moulton was being remembered online by friends, who called her “the most peaceful, kind, gentle human.”

Marquita Hodges posted that she prayed it wasn’t true that her friend died. “Will miss you Girl. Give all those already there a hug from me. Tell them I love them. Thanks for being a great friend, I’ll never forget you, I Love You,” Hodges posted on Facebook.
