New details have emerged in the tragic house fire in Gloverville that claimed the lives of two young children early Monday morning.
The fire, which started around 12:50 a.m., ravaged a home on the 200 block of Pine Street. When emergency responders arrived, they found flames coming from the front of the house and thick black smoke pouring from the windows. Six-year-old Serahya Jordan and 8-year-old Deandolyn Jordan lost their lives in the blaze.
The children’s mother, Jessica Jordan, was found visibly distraught across the street with her son, according to a sheriff’s report. A neighbor, attempting to help, had broken a window on the side of the house and alerted deputies that the children were trapped inside a room nearby.

Deputies and firefighters rushed to the scene, with a firefighter entering the burning home after receiving assistance from deputies. Due to the extreme heat, the firefighter had to exit but was able to re-enter with the help of a fire hose, finding three juvenile girls inside the room.
The girls were passed through the window to deputies, who immediately began life-saving efforts, including CPR and administering oxygen. The children were transported to Aiken Regional Medical Centers and Doctors Hospital. Sadly, Serahya Jordan was pronounced dead at 1:57 a.m., followed by her sister, Deandolyn, at 2:00 a.m. A third sibling was listed Monday in critical condition at Doctors Hospital, and their mother, along with another child, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The Coroner’s Office arrived at Aiken Regional Medical Centers at 3:02 a.m. to investigate the deaths of the two girls. Autopsies will be performed in Newberry to determine the cause of death. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and the Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the fire’s cause.
The community is grieving this loss, and authorities are working to uncover more details as the investigation progresses.
