Land that has been cleared at the intersection of North Belair and Owens roads in Evans seems to be making way for a new Dollar General Store.
The Jordan Trotter firm, which owns the less than one-acre parcel at 4449 Owens Road, received approval in April for plans of the new store. It will be more than 10,000 square feet with some 31 parking spaces. Columbia County approved a revised version of the plans on July 17.
The parcel sits across Owens Road from Rhinehart’s Oyster Bar in Evans. It abuts, to its north, a vacant 15-acre tract, currently owned by Wellstar MCG, that used to be the location of Belair Elementary School.
