The newest Goodwill Career Center is opening March 4, next door to the existing Goodwill retail store in Grovetown, right across from the Walmart shopping center off I-20. The new career center, located at 4019 Gateway Blvd., will continue the work of connecting those struggling with a job search to employers.
“The pandemic has dealt a huge blow to the economy, resulting in devastating job losses,” said Leah Pontani, vice president of career services at Goodwill. “Our challenge as we emerge from the grip of COVID is to ensure that displaced workers are prepared to succeed in a post-crisis labor market and are properly aligned with available job opportunities.”
The career centers are funded by merchandise sales from Goodwill retail stores, of which there are several in the CSRA. This allows for career center services to be offered at no cost to job seekers.

This will be the fourth Goodwill Career Center in the area, adding to one in South Augusta, one close to downtown by the Kroc Center, and one at the corner of Washington Rd. and Fury’s Ferry.
Grovetown has experienced exponential growth in recent years, and with several new businesses opening their doors recently and the influx of residents, the Grovetown location should fill a key role in aiding those struggling with a job search, those with gaps in job history, or those with criminal backgrounds in finding their next job.
“We are working daily to ensure we have the most up-to-date information on job opportunities and are increasing our outreach efforts with businesses and organizations that may be seeking workers,” Pontani said. “Whether you’re looking to find a job today, need help identifying and preparing for a new career for the future, or are struggling to locate necessary resources in the community, our staff is prepared to assist.”
In 2019, 1 in 275 employees in America were helped by their local Goodwill, according to the website’s annual report. The new Grovetown Job Connection & Career Center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
