The Tuesday Mayoral and City Council elections in North Augusta brought new faces to government.
Republican Briton Williams was elected to be the city’s next Mayor. He defeated Democratic opponent Richard Adams 2,200 to 860. Williams will replace outgoing Mayor Bob Pettit who did not run for reelection.
In the race for City Council, Republican newcomer Jenafer McCauley defeated Democratic newcomer Trina Mackie 2,300 to 993 McCauley will replace Councilman Fletcher Dickert who did not seek reelection.
In the election for two other council seats, Republican incumbents Pat Carpenter and David McGhee ran unopposed. This will be Carpenter’s 8th term in office. It will be McGhee’s 3rd term.
Winners of the elections will be sworn into office May 3rd, 2021 at the regular City Council meeting. That meeting will be in-person in council chambers at 7:00pm.
