The University of South Carolina-Aiken has a new chancellor.
Daniel Heimmermann will take over on July 1, 2021, as USC-Aiken’s fifth chancellor. He succeeds Dr. Sandra Jordon, who is retiring on June 30.
USC System President Bob Caslen announced the selection at today’s meeting of The University of South Carolina’s Board of Trustees. President Caslen says Heimmermann was chosen in a nationwide search from over 100 applicants.
Heimmerman has been provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa, TX. since 2014.
Following Caslen’s announcement, Heimmermann said he was excited to take over leadership of the Aiken university.
“I am extremely pleased and humbled by the opportunity and responsibility entrusted to me by the University of South Carolina,” he said. “I am thrilled to join USC Aiken, which is renowned for its high-quality, accessible, industry-aligned academic programs grounded in the Liberal Arts.”
He added that he and his family look forward to becoming part of the Aiken community.
