Date: June 17, 2024

The Aiken County Public School District (ACPSD) has recently named Dr. Tim Yarborough as the new chief officer of operations and students services, beginning in the 2025-25 school year.

Yarborough has worked the last seven years as director of operations division, implementing school and district safety initiatives and energy conservation programs.

“Creating a safe, secure environment where our students can learn and teachers can teach is an effort I’m proud to lead,” said Yarborough.

He began his career in education as a social studies teacher in Richmond County schools, where he later served as an assistant principal of Butler High School. Yarborough moved to Aiken County schools in 2000 when he served as the principal of Wagener-Salley High School. In 2006, he was promoted to assistant superintendent over schools in the Midland Valley area (Area 3), and in 2011, he was promoted again to be the academic officer/executive director over high schools. He started his role as director of operations division in 2017.

Yarborough will assume all responsibility for facilities construction, social work, alternative programs, psychological and health services, athletics, attendance, transportation, student records, and student discipline in his new role.

“Operations and Student Services provide the framework and foundation for teachers and other school-based employees to serve our students,” said Yarborough. “It’s been a privilege to serve in this area, and I look forward to the opportunity to continue leading the district in this capacity.”
