The Aiken County Public School District (ACPSD) has recently named new principals at Schofield Middle School, New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School and Aiken High School.
Shunte Dugar has been named as the new principal at Schofield Middle School. She is the current principal at New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School and will move over to her new position in the 2024-2025 school year. Dugar came to New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School in 2013.

“Transitioning to the role of principal at Schofield Middle School after serving as principal at New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School for 11 years brings a mix of emotions, challenges, and opportunities,” said Dugar. “I am excited about the possibilities this new position holds and am committed to making a positive and lasting impact at Schofield.”
Dugar began her education career as a school counselor at New Ellenton Middle School and Jackson STEM Magnet Middle School. In 2010, she became an assistant principal at Paul Knox Middle School before returning as principal to New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School.
Students and families are invited to meet Dugar at “Meet the Principal” on Thursday, July 18 as a part of the annual “Meet the Teacher” event from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“Schofield has such a rich tradition,” said Dugar. “I’m looking forward to this new beginning, and a new future for a school that means so much to me personally and to many throughout our community.”
Thurston Williams has been named the new principal at New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School. He is a current assistant principal at Kennedy Middle School and will move over to his new position in the 2024-2025 school year.

“This new role means a lot to me because I have the opportunity to join in on excellent things happening at New Ellenton,” said Williams. “I’m honored to lead and serve a hardworking and tight-knit staff who truly have hearts for their students.”
Williams began his education career as a special education paraprofessional in Richmond County schools. He then moved to teach math. Williams moved to Aiken County schools as an assistant principal for North Augusta High School in 2021 and has been serving at Kennedy Middle School for the past two years.

“The opportunity to be a part of a school that aligns with my ‘Why’ is a privilege,” said Williams. “It is an honor to be selected to serve this school, and together we will continue to take New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School to new heights.”
Angela Moore has been named the new principal at Aiken High School. She is the current principal of Glenn Hills Middle School and will begin her new role in the 2024-2025 school year. Moore is an alumnus of Aiken High School.

“I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to give back to the same community and school that shaped my own education and growth,” said Moore. “My personal experience as a student and teacher at Aiken High School gives me a unique understanding of the school’s culture, values, and challenges. I am excited about the chance to inspire the next generation of students, just as my teachers and mentors did for me.”
Moore began her education career as a special education teacher at Aiken High School in the 90’s. She moved over to Richmond County schools in 2004 and has served in numerous capacities over there. Moore is now returning to Aiken County schools.
“I’m looking forward to working with all stakeholders,” said Moore. “By building strong relationships with Aiken High’s students, parents, teachers, staff, and community partners, I am excited to promote student success and foster a positive school culture. Heading into the new school year, I am filled with enthusiasm, determination, and a deep sense of responsibility to serve the Aiken High community with dedication and excellence.”
