A new Starbucks could be headed to the site currently occupied by a spay and neuter clinic.

The property where Heartsong Spay Neuter Clinic in Martinez is located has been sold to an undisclosed development company that plans to lease it to Starbucks.

Loretta Emmons, the clinic’s founder, said the clinic will operate at 421 S. Belair Rd. until Aug. 1 when the organization will move to another location.

She did not disclose the name of the investment company, but said she saw it and the information about the Starbucks in the paperwork during the closing of the sale.

Dennis Trotter of Jordan Trotter Commercial Real Estate referred all questions regarding the sale of the property and any connection to Starbucks to Starbucks Corporate.

Starbucks did not respond to multiple emails and phone messages left concerning the prospective new location.

According to the Heartsong Spay Neuter Clinic website, Emmons “is trying to find a new location to continue a wellness clinic.”

The Heartsong Spay Neuter Clinic website said Emmons is looking for a 700 to 1,200 square foot commercial property nearby.

Heartsong Spay Neuter Clinic opened when founders Erik and Loretta Emmons realized that their 501(c)3 non-profit rescue was not doing enough to save the many animals from the local and state shelters, according to the website, heartsongspayneuter.com.

According to the website, “the animal rescue was only in Georgia and due to COVID, we are no longer taking in rescue animals. Our primary goal was to offer affordable spay, neuter and wellness. We are not a full-service clinic, but what we do we do very well.”
