The Augusta University Health System promoted Chris Miller as the new assistant vice president for Facility Services on March 1st, 2021.
Since 2010, Miller was the Facilities Support Services director. He started his career with the organization as a plumbing mechanic before being promoted to Georgia’s Medical College as a building maintenance supervisor.
He holds a certificate in mechanical maintenance along with many other prestige certifications. Miller joined the healthcare system in 2000 as a facility expediter. He then moved up to Facility Operations manager and then director. His primary efforts involved improving energy use in the healthcare system, which earned him an Energy Star certification.
Before earning his role as assistant vice president, Miller earned a Family Choice Award in 2014 and an Ambassador Award in 2020. The awards show the concentration of both Miller and AU Health in providing patient and family-centered care.

The duties of assistant vice president involve the overlooking of daily operations for the health system. The responsibilities include looking after the buildings and grounds of about 2.8 million square feet.
“I am very honored that the AU health system has chosen me to act in this role,” Miller said.
Along with his duties of monitoring the facility operations, Miller will also oversee the Facilities Support Services, Project Design, Food and Nutrition Services, Security and Management and Patient Transport Services.
He is also the executive sponsor for the Environment Care Committee. The committee works to maintain a health care environment that is safe for all. Although he holds a new position, Miller is still striving for excellent patient care.
“We want to continue to provide a safe environment for our patients and families,” Miller said.
He serves as a member of the Georgia Plumbers Trade Association, American Society of
Healthcare Engineers and the United States Green Building Council. The Ronald McDonald
House Charities of Augusta also has Miller serving as a board member.
