The Arts at the Etherredge Center’s Cultural Series will continue this month at the University of South Carolina Aiken (USCA) with a visit from The New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, who will bring an evening of classic comic opera to Aiken on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m.

The New York-based company will present “The Pirates of Penzance” in one act, followed by a concert of additional selections from the duo’s celebrated operas, according to a press release from the USCA.

The second half of the evening will feature the group’s signature audience participation segment, allowing attendees to make musical requests that the performers will sing impromptu.

“We’re thrilled to bring The New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players back to Aiken,” said Paul B. Crook, executive director of the Etherredge Center. “Their performances capture the humor, charm, and musical brilliance that have made Gilbert and Sullivan timeless. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our community to experience a world-class production right here on campus.”

The performance marks the group’s return to the Etherredge Center since appearing in the 2017–2018 Cultural Series, according to a press release from the University of South Carolina Aiken.

Tickets are $40 for the general public; $35 for senior citizens, military personnel, and USCA faculty and staff; and $5 for students.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at etherredgecenter.universitytickets.com or at the box office located at 340 Scholar Loop.
