A man pleaded guilty Friday in Aiken County to murder and kidnapping in the death of Jamilla Smith, resulting in a lengthy prison sentence and the dismissal of additional charges tied to the case.

Richmond County authorities have custody of a North Augusta man accused of beating up his child’s mother, abducting their daughter and taking her to Tennessee. 

Authorities say a coordinated gang enforcement operation led to multiple arrests, the seizure of large amounts of drugs and cash, and the takedown of a suspected gang leader tied to criminal activity across Augusta and Grovetown.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office has announced an arrest in connection with the shooting death of a man found outside a Circle K convenience store late Monday
