No glove change discovered in one restaurant in this week’s health inspection

The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, and one restaurant received a failing score from May 24-31.

Bojangles Famous Chicken & Biscuits, 1457 Walton Way, Augusta received a failing score of 62. Inspector’s comments included: “observed several employees leave workstation and return without changing gloves” and “observed pink build-up inside bulk ice machine.”

Other inspector’s comments included: “observed employees take off and place on new gloves without washing hands,” “observed no updated employee health reporting agreements,” “observed several items being held in an ice bath out of temperature,” “observed food stored outside of the original packaging with no label,” “observed product stored on floor inside walk-in freezer,” “observed most recent inspection not posted,” “observed no handwashing signs posted at sinks throughout kitchen,” and “observed scoops stored inside of product.”

The second lowest score was an 81, and it was received by Formosa II, 3830 Washington Road Suite A, Martinez. Inspector’s comments included: “do not block hand sink in kitchen; move glass cooler over,” “paper towels needed in employee bathroom,” observed prep cooler at 48-55 degrees; most veggies; meat moved to another cooler or on ice,” “date all foods; several food containers in WIC not dated,” “no plates to dispense foods,” “do not reuse Styrofoam containers on line; change cardboard daily,” “must have dividers in sink so it is a 3-compartment sink,” “clean: grease on side of wok, ice machine, all counters and shelves, glass cooler, and doors; clean all equipment.”

Augusta Miyabi Inc. DBA Miyabi Kyoto Japanese Steak House, 1315 Augusta West Parkway, Augusta received the third lowest score of 83. Inspector’s comments included: “observed build-up inside the bulk ice machine,” “observed several food items outside original containers without labels,” “observed scoops improperly stored in sushi rice and flour,” “observed clean dishes wet stacked,” “observed no test strips for sanitizer being used,” “observed standing water throughout the kitchen and bar,” and “observed flies throughout the kitchen.”
